It’s been much anticipated, and now it’s here: The Island Lake Bike Demo is back! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 8, 2010. It’s the biggest bike demo in Michigan. Located at the Dodge Brothers parking lot (the very west end parking lot after the train tracks), it is a free event for all. However, pre-registration and a State Park pass are required. I will be there from 10am to 12pm if you need an unbiased opinion on your favorite bicycles.

P.S. Sunday is Mother’s Day!

Registration is now open. Click Here to visit the new outdoorathlete.com website. The event is free, but if you pre-register it will save you and us time and get you onto the bikes asap.

Update: A Lights & Motion sponsored Night Ride/Demo will be held at Island Lake Recreation Area on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Meet in the Dodge Parking Lot (the same lot as the Demo on Saturday). The event will raise money for Michigan Youth Cycling. There will be many Light & Motion Lights available to test for a dollar donation to Michigan Youth Cycling. Contact Jeff Buerman at theqsportsgroup@gmail.com or 734-564-7395 for more information.

Spring is just around the corner, and that can only mean one thing. It is time to get ready for the Island Lake Spring Bike Demo. Confirmed demo rigs by all of the usual suspects like Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Giant and new for this year Felt. Also all of Michigan’s best bike retailers will be in attendance, plus a couple new entries from other outdoor sports. So you can find the bike and gear you want and find the best shop for you to buy it from.

There will also be a few new twists this year such as the Trail’s Edge campout and Light in Motion night ride.
Registration will open soon so make sure to sign up to avoid the lines and eliminate any delay to demoing the bike of your dreams.
