What an Honor!

Winning 2012 Best Bicycle Shop in Southeast Michigan confirmed that we are treating our customers the way they want and deserve to be treated.

Also in 2012, we were recognized by Jamis Bicycles for being one of their top dealers and promoting their mission to change lives one bike at a time.

Yesterday, the above kudos came from another side of our success – our parts distributor!

Quality Bicycle Products (QBP) is the largest bicycle parts distributor in the world. They serve tens of thousands of dealers across the globe. So it’s no small feat for Hometown Bicycles to have been honored with their Best Retailer Award 2012.

What does this mean for you? A better relationship with our distributors means better product support for our customers. Just one more way to show that Hometown Bicycles is in it for the long haul!

We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment, and know that we couldn’t have done it without our customers. So, THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to be the BEST.

TIPS & TRICKS: HOW TO FIX YOUR BICYCLE TIRE WITH GARBAGE

Yes, you read that right… GARBAGE. A roadside potato chip bag can mean the difference between cycling to safety and a LOOONNNG walk home.

Here’s the scenario: Through a particularly unfortunate set of circumstances, your tire is sliced open. You’re miles from your car, and looking at an uncomfortable trek back in your cycling shoes. Game over.

Or is it?

The problem with a slice is the potential (or, more likely, inevitability) of the inner tube pushing through the slit. *POP!!* goes the inner tube. Then you’re really stuck.

Here’s where garbage comes into play: Anything from an old candy wrapper, to a nutrition bar wrapper, to an empty gu packet can be used to reinforce the sliced area. In many cases, this keeps your tube from bulging out just long enough for you to ride to your vehicle or straight to Hometown.

You can also patch your sliced tire with a dollar, but we really like it when you use a $100 bill…
