Jersey Trade-In Program + Compact Bike Art

Get $ for Your Old Jerseys!

Cycling jersey trade-in program at Hometown Bicycles

MEET THE NEW HOMETOWN BICYCLES JERSEY TRADE-IN PROGRAM:

You’ve got a closet full of hardly-used jerseys from rides past, binge shopping, and you-don’t-even-remember-where. Happy news for you – bring ’em to Hometown and you’ll get $10 store credit for each jersey we take!

Of course, jerseys must be in good condition – CLEAN and free of rips and tears. And no bottoms – that would be unsanitary.

On the flip side of the coin, if you’re a bargain-lovin’ bike fan, you’ll soon be enjoying a selection of everything from new to vintage, svelte to fun jerseys at wallet-friendly prices. Be sure to drop in regularly to see what new treasure is hanging on the rack!

A BABY, A BIKE SHOP – NOW ALL WE NEED IS A…

Shaun, Dawn, and Liam of Hometown Bicycles with Kelsey from Last Chance Rescue

Meeting a rescue puppy at Hometown BicyclesShaun’s holding playful, little Kelsey… sadly, she is not ours, but someday we’ll be ready to adopt a dog, and when that day comes, we know just which organization to call.

Last Chance Rescue (LCR) of Howell brought a truck load of cuteness, kindness, and hope to our shop this past Saturday in the form of four very lovable, very adoptable puppies. (Sophie D. has a heart-to-heart with Clover, above left)

Turnout was fantastic, and we’re happy to report that forever homes are already in the works for two of them! Special thanks to the big-hearted gals of LCR – Nicky, Terry, and family – who made this adoption day at Hometown possible, and who so clearly care about the welfare of their adoptables.

You’ll be seeing many more pet adoption days at Hometown. In the meantime, if you’d like to donate to or volunteer with this wonderful group, connect with Last Chance Rescue on Facebook!

WINNIE KEEPS THE CREATIVITY FLOWING

The photographic stylings of Winnie Chrzanowski
These two gems of bicycle photography are the latest installments from local artist, Winnie Chrzanowski’s, whose adorable “Biker Babe” currently sasses up our wall. “Blue Bike” ($30) on the left is slick and vintage. At a little over 8″x8″, this print is perfect for any small space of yours that needs a dose of bike love! “Rest Stop” ($75) on the right has all the old-world attraction of bicycles, pubs, and a cozy rainy-day vibe. This wrapped-canvas print will charm the overseas socks off of you.

Got the perfect place in mind for these tiny treasures? Great! Stop by and check ’em out!

IMMEDIATE CALL FOR STUDENT BICYCLE ARTWORK

Hometown Bicycles Student Art Program
If you’re harboring one or more artistically talented kindergarteners through 12th-graders in your home, here’s a chance to showcase their talent at Hometown!

Our Brighton High School student art display has enlivened the shop and inspired our customers for over a month now, but it’s time to return the artwork to their creators (except for the ones that sold, of course!)

There’s been an amazing response to our Student Art Program from our community’s schools, and you’ll be seeing a whole lot more student creativity in the coming months. But while those students are hard at work, creating their masterpieces for display, our walls will be sitting vacant…

… UNLESS …

Unless your budding artist would like to showcase their bicycle art at our shop NOW!

Artwork can be any medium, but must be ABOUT bicycles or MADE OF bicycle parts. Your student may put it up for sale if they want to – they’d keep 100% of the proceeds!

If interested, email a picture of the artwork for approval (we’re a family-friendly shop, so it’s got to be positive, clean, and angst-free), along with your student’s name and grade level, to office@myhometownbicycles.com.

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH.  Please drop off approved artwork by Friday, February 5th, so that we can make its display spectacular!

BICYCLE ART AT HOMETOWN: SUZANNE ALLEN

Suzanne Allen artwork

Suzanne Allen - artist - at Hometown BicyclesSue is a wellspring of information, and her art tells the stories that she’s collected over years of professorship and research. What we especially love about her work is that it’s VIBRANT and playful, while still appealing to the intellectual cyclist. But even if pondering isn’t your thing, we encourage you to enjoy a refreshing smile in front of the jaunty, neon head of “Bike Face”!

BICYCLE ART AT HOMETOWN: PEGGY KERWAN

Peggy Kerwan's art at Hometown Bicycles
(Artwork copyright Peggy Kerwan. All rights reserved.)
Peggy Kerwan artwork "Pink Ladies"Peggy GETS cycling; she’s a cyclist who finds the fun in any bike-bound adventure. And her artwork is about those adventures – the people, the places, and the roadkill rat (yes, you read that right!) that turn a ride into something worth capturing on canvas. You may have seen some of Peggy’s work at the Wooden Spoon in Brighton, where she curates. We’re delighted to have her creativity here at the shop!

Keep calm and come to Hometown. We’ve got all sorts of sock-sized goodies in our new art department that will pleasantly plump out your fireplace footwear, including beautiful notecards from local artist Peggy Brewer; sew-master Lauren Patrell’s super-awesome coin purses; a new line of handmade, unique-as-snowflakes, gear ornaments; and the bluesy tunes of our very own CycloDan Tribble.
