JENNIFER FINDS THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
Customer Highlight: Why She Loves Cycling

Jennifer McCauley, Hometown Bicycles Events Coordinator and Leader of the Green Gals

Jennifer is one of those amazing customers who was with us even before Hometown was a twinkle in our eyes. Now we’re proud to call her our Events Coordinator and co-instigator with her daughter of the much-loved Hometown Bicycles Green Gals (an all-women cycling group).

Here’s what Jennifer has to say about why she loves cycling:

It needs to be noted that I didn’t start “biking” until I was 51.  Sure I rode a bike all through my childhood and with toddlers on the back of my bike and then with the whole family.  However I started “biking” to do my first triathlon.  It opened a whole new fun world. It made me feel like a kid again. I pushed all my other X-mas gifts aside when my husband wheeled in a new road bike and l squealed like a kid.

Now it gives me more time with my children and other young people; it gives me new muscles; it makes me invigorated; it’s a great cross training for running and swimming; it provides a whole host of potential gifts for me; it strengthens my aging knees; it keeps me off medication and gives me vitamin D and fresh air; it improves my balance; and it gives me bragging rights (I’ve now added mountain biking). It keeps me young. Why did I wait so long?????!!!!!
Want to share your story and inspire others to ride?  Send us an email with your favorite cycling photo and a little bit about why you ride, what inspires you, and what you’ve done that might inspire someone else to change their life, too!

A CHRISTMAS TREE MADE OF BICYCLES
Industry Highlight: Australia’s awesome idea
Christmas Tree made of bicycles

In honor of the holidays, we’re bringing up an old favorite from the Sydney, Australia archives… a Christmas tree built entirely of bicycles. It’s genius!

Does this inspire some seasonal cycle creativity of your own? If so, please share!
