A FAT BIKE CHALLENGE TO EVERY CYCLIST OUT THERE:
Outdoor winter cycling has experienced an enormous leap in participation since fat bikes entered the cycle scene. Their mongo tires and draft-horse build mean there’s no sandy stretch, rocky terrain, snowy expanse, or ice-caked trail out of reach for the adventurous cyclist. But you don’t have to have be an adrenaline junkie to enjoy the season-expanding benefits of these bicycle behemoths. Nor do you have to look like the hulk, wear plaid, and corner the market in facial hair. Fat bikes are being enjoyed by guys AND gals of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels. Their shared bond is a passion for not being contained, for embracing the elements, and for a feeling of POWER.Yes, power – imagine cruising up alongside a Beetle… in a Hummer. Yeah. It’s like that.
Now, some of you are already fat bike initiates. You rock, and you don’t need this challenge to “get your fat on”. This is for those of you who’ve heard about the movement and are wondering what all the hype is about; for those of you who are going spin crazy; and absolutely for those of you who may not have even HEARD of fat bikes, much less pictured yourself astride one. In fact, I’d say this challenge is especially for you…Rent a Fat Bike at Hometown!
For a ride, a day, a week… if you can ride a bike, you can ride a fat bike. There’s a winter wonderland waiting out there for you, along with the bragging rights that come with doing what others can’t or won’t. So, go on – be BOLD, and try a fat bike. Inspire others by sharing your adventure on our Facebook page. We double-dog dare you…

Did you know?
We have a major project going on in Hometown’s back room – a buildout that includes a new business incubator rental space!
We’ve had a vision for Hometown Bicycles that originated way back in our pre-Hometown days – a vision that entails carving a new trail in our industry. Moving to this location was part of that. So was growing Team Hometown. And now this buildout takes us a sizable step closer toward making that vision a reality.
What is a business incubator? Business incubators are organizations that offer startups shared operation space. In short, they offer fledgling young companies a warm, safe place to grow and prosper.
Hometown’s business incubator will be available for hourly rentals. If you would like to learn more, contact Dawn at office@myhometownbicycles.com.
You may hear the banging and clattering behind the scenes as progress is being made. Many helping hands are pitching in to bring this project to completion. It’s looking pretty sweet! Stay tuned for our Grand Opening, coming soon!
Bike Fitting Clinic was a smashing success!
So many thanks to our Platinum Sponsor, Vinnie Baylerian, PT, DPT of Pro-Motion Physical Therapy, for sharing a wealth of valuable information with us at last weekend’s Bike Fitting Clinic.
His expertise as a certified Level 2 Clinical BikeFit Pro, combined with his Physical Therapy experience, made for quite an enlightening clinic. We all seek comfort and efficiency when riding… scheduling a bike fit is high on the priority list now!
Our showroom floor was packed with cyclists offering up excellent questions that applied to everyone. We hope you learned something new that will help you improve your cycling.

If you would like more information on what a bike fitting entails or want to schedule an appointment, contact Vinnie at (810) 588-4133.

Young Women’s Entrepreneurship Event:
Tuesday, March 12th from 6:00-7:30 PM

The evening will be chock full of fun and invaluable information to help the young women in our lives explore and develop their entrepreneurial talents. If you are a middle school or high school student, or a young woman in her late teens/early 20’s, who is interested in starting your own business (or already have!), you will not want to miss our Young Women’s Entrepreneurship event.
We are super stoked to announce our keynote speaker for this GIRL POWERevent: Jennifer Matras, Owner and Head Skating Coach at Competitive Edge Skating.

With over 25 years of skating and training experience, Jennifer is a highly sought after skill development instructor AND a fabulous female business owner. Competitive Edge Skating is the result of Jennifer’s commitment and passion to developing a company where athletes are provided everything they need to reach their highest level of performance.
Everyone who signs up for the event will receive a PDF version of Jennifer’s inspirational book, Building an Uncommon Champion: Help Your Child Redefine Success. Jennifer’s goal is to spread this message as much as possible to help change how coaches, teachers and mentors interact with this younger generation, and to help eradicate bullying.

Guess what’s happenin’ in our Community Room? Martial Arts training!
Brighton ATA Martial Arts will be offering lessons in our Community Room on Monday and Thursday evenings, as well as every other Tuesday evening, from 6-8 PM.
Instructors CJ & Sarah Horn teach Songahm, Taekwondo-based martial arts for ages 4 and up, centered around self-defense and bully prevention.
“We focus on working with students on building confidence and discipline as well as other valuable life skills. Martial arts is unlike any other sport because at the core of the training, the emphasis is on personal development. We share and teach the same values you teach at home. The foundations of our morals, values and core character traits are formed in our early years. For this reason, the ATA Martial Arts program is an essential way to enhance the growth and personal development of young students of all ages.”
