Support Local! And get a Hometown perk!

Hometown Bicycles

We at Hometown Bicycles are happy that our local restaurants can re-open their doors beginning February 1st!

However, we know they are hurting… and will continue to hurt at 25% capacity, especially the small independently-owned diners, restaurants, and coffee shops. Because we love our community, we want to help. And it involves you!

Hear what Shaun has to say…

For the month of February, we’ll be running the following promotion:

  • Go to a local family-owned restaurant. We’re talking about those places with owners that live in and support our local community!
  • Bring your restaurant receipt to the shop and pose for a photo.
  • Receive a $5 credit to your Hometown account.

It’s that simple!

**Limit of 4 credits for the month of February, one per week. That equals $20 in Hometown credits and FOUR local restaurants receiving your support. Together we CAN make a difference.

Hometown Storytellers THIS Saturday at 5 PM!

Get out of the house Saturday evening — spend it at the shop with like-minded folks and an engaging guest, Phil Shaw.

Phil will share some photos and stories about his ride in South America, where he rode from Santiago to Chile, over the Andes to Mendoza, and back to Santiago. A total journey of 535 miles with 34,890 ft of climbing.

“When an old friend of mine moved to the US in 2013 and convinced me to take part in a 100-mile charity ride (in Arizona, no less), I had no idea how hard the cycling bug would bite. At the time I owned a 1998 Specialized FSR that hadn’t turned a wheel since I moved to the US from the UK in 2008. I quickly found myself with a new Felt and taking a (sometimes literal) crash course in road riding in a group. Since then, I have had the great fortune to ride century rides in many great US locations, and also to ride multi-day rides over the Andes and off-road coast to coast in the UK.”

Bring your own dinner. This will be a socially distanced event in our Community Room. Masks are required when not eating/drinking. Attendance is limited, so please register in advance HERE.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!

Want to do something unique for your favorite Valentine this year with a gift that’s sure to demonstrate how much you were thinking of them?

Hometown’s Zumba Gold instructor Tresa has created an adorable light-up box that will do just that!

These poplar lighted boxes are operated by replaceable CR2032 batteries. They’re a perfect 4” x 4″ size; just right for a side table, nightstand, or as a cute centerpiece on the kitchen table. They can be individualized with two names on one side, or personalized with something such as “Avery’s First Valentine” / “Love, Grandma” (this is customizable as well).

Available color options include red, pink, white, yellow, orange, and blue.

Each box is $20, with free personalization (restrictions may apply). Local pick up in the Howell / Brighton area.

Livingston County Non-Motorized Advisory Committee
An active group of cycling advocates has been hard at work right in your Hometown community. Under the initiative of Craig Wood, these local advocates promote and encourage active mobility in Livingston County via the implementation of “complete streets and trails” that allow people to safely walk, run, bike or wheel regardless of age or ability.

We’d like to garner your support by asking you to “Like” the Go-Liv-Co Facebook page — also, please share the page with others.

Craig and his team hope to share relevant information about areas of focus such as the Livingston County Trails Plan, the Flex Lane M-23 crossing, resident feedback, crosswalk projects, bike lane potentials, City Council meetings, and other events.

Cardio Drumming is BACK!

Join Martha with PURE Fitness and Nutrition for cardio drumming classes on Wednesdays at 6 PM, starting February 3rd.

Bring your own equipment; there is no equipment rental at this time.

$5 per class

Hometown Storytellers

The pandemic brought with it social isolation, closed businesses, and a general loss of connection to people and places we enjoy. It’s also winter in Michigan with not much to do.

We have a solution to help with the winter and Covid blues! Hometown Storytellers!

We’re bringing in guests to share cycling adventures on Saturday evenings after the shop closes — time to relax with friends and build community in a socially distanced way. Our Community Room comfortably allows for a small group to gather while staying safe.

Spend an hour with like-minded folks. Bring your own dinner (or order in). Masks are required when not eating/drinking and attendance is limited to 7 people. Pre-registration is required.

Our first Hometown Storyteller is Phil Shaw — with Host Andy Miller — NEXT Saturday 1/30 at 5 PM.

Fat Biking for ALL!
We will host our first Fat Bike ride of the 2021 season TOMORROW!
When: Saturday, January 9 from 10 AM – Noon
Where: Settlers Park, Hartland

Use the Clark Road entrance and ride the Section 21 trail system located inside Settlers Park. This is a no-drop all-inclusive ride! Team Hometown members will be on-hand to lead and sweep the ride. Whether this is your first time riding a bike in the snow or you’re already well-versed in winter riding, you will have a place to safely participate. It is recommended to have a fat tire or plus tire bike for this ride, as conditions don’t support skinny tires.

This will be a socially distanced ride. You are expected to wear a mask when grouping together and act in a manner to ensure all are following safe practices. Let’s get out there and have some winter fun!

As always a ride waiver and helmet are required to participate. Please complete your waiver HERE.

** This ride is weather-permitting. Please check our event page for the latest updates HERE.

2021 Winter Clinic Series

We have an awesomely informative and enjoyable clinic series coming your way! With so many things shut down due to the ongoing pandemic, we invite you to spend your weekends with us.

Every Saturday from 5-6 PM, visit our HOME(town) for camaraderie and information-sharing. Alternating between Cycling Clinics and Story Nights, with our shop as your “home away from home,” we look forward to building community with you.

You may now be wondering, what is Story Night? It will be a casual “bring your own dinner” event where we can hang out and listen to fellow cyclists share their adventures.

To ensure comfort and safety, we are limiting attendance to 7 people at each event. Each person will have their own socially distanced table. If a couple or family attends, they will be able to share one table. Advance registration is required.

To kick things off, our first clinic will be on Saturday 1/16 — Fat Tire Fixes! For more information and to register, please visit Eventbrite HERE. Our full schedule will be available soon!

Interested in sharing your own adventure at a future Story Night? Have ideas for cycling clinics? Contact our Events Coordinator, Leslie B, at events@myhometownbicycles.com.
