JENNIFER FINDS THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
Customer Highlight: Why She Loves Cycling

Jennifer McCauley, Hometown Bicycles Events Coordinator and Leader of the Green Gals

Jennifer is one of those amazing customers who was with us even before Hometown was a twinkle in our eyes. Now we’re proud to call her our Events Coordinator and co-instigator with her daughter of the much-loved Hometown Bicycles Green Gals (an all-women cycling group).

Here’s what Jennifer has to say about why she loves cycling:

It needs to be noted that I didn’t start “biking” until I was 51.  Sure I rode a bike all through my childhood and with toddlers on the back of my bike and then with the whole family.  However I started “biking” to do my first triathlon.  It opened a whole new fun world. It made me feel like a kid again. I pushed all my other X-mas gifts aside when my husband wheeled in a new road bike and l squealed like a kid.

Now it gives me more time with my children and other young people; it gives me new muscles; it makes me invigorated; it’s a great cross training for running and swimming; it provides a whole host of potential gifts for me; it strengthens my aging knees; it keeps me off medication and gives me vitamin D and fresh air; it improves my balance; and it gives me bragging rights (I’ve now added mountain biking). It keeps me young. Why did I wait so long?????!!!!!
Want to share your story and inspire others to ride?  Send us an email with your favorite cycling photo and a little bit about why you ride, what inspires you, and what you’ve done that might inspire someone else to change their life, too!

Hometown’s VERY Big News

Hometown Bicycles' VERY big news video

Unleashing Our Inner ‘Awesome’

So now you know our BIG news, and by “our,” we are definitely including YOU, the loyal customers who are giving us a reason to grow.

Think about what this move means… the new, Brighton Hometown location is 16,000 square feet and 3 acres of awesomeness. That means more products, more variety, more learning opportunities, more riding, more events, and a heck of a lot more fun.

We will launch the Grand Opening on April 15, 2015 – fittingly, Hometown’s 5-year anniversary.

We have big dreams for this big, new space, and we would appreciate your help. Get the word out, get geeked and, if you’re a hands-on sort of person, get involved! We’re looking for skilled craftsman and participants in our limited edition, “I Believe in Hometown!” Gift Certificate program.

For details and to find out how you can be a part of Hometown’s epic evolution, stop by our Brighton shop and talk to Shaun. Your faith in us is the reason why we do what we do.

THANK YOU  and

Happy Thanksgiving, Hometownies!

Happy Thanksgiving from Hometown Bicycles

Bike Lights Clinic, Tim’s Triumph, and the Tour

Bike Light Clinic & Devil’s Night Ride

UFO on night road

IF YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE A UFO WHEN YOU RIDE, YOU’RE NOT USING ENOUGH LIGHTS. Here’s the deal… we really like you, and we want to help keep you SAFE on your nocturnal cycling adventures.
On Friday, October 30th, 6:00pm at our Brighton store,
we’re hosting a FREE Bike Light & Night Safety clinic that you won’t want to miss.
This clinic will cover everything from the different styles, features, and benefits of cycling lights, where they go and why, and which lights you need and which you don’t.

Immediately after, anyone who’s interested can join us for our Devil’s Night Shop Ride, where you’ll be able to take our lights for a test spin! This ride will be a short, Island Lake road and trail mash-up for all levels of riders. We’ll finish up with a cozy autumn bonfire back at the shop.

Although there’s no charge, we do ask that you register in advance, so that we can plan ahead and make this an awesome event for everyone!

Stingray Bob at the classic car show in Milford

Bob earned his moniker “Stingray Bob” from a lifetime of buying, selling, and exquisite renovations of Schwinn’s famous, classic Stingray bicycles. We ran into Stingray Bob at last week’s classic car & trailer show at Baker’s of Milford. True to form, he was toting a few pieces from his beautiful collection.
