Team Hometown Bicycles' Sue Charleville and Margaret Bigham at Kal-Haven Trail Tour

TEAM NEWS: ♫ JUST RI-I-I-IDIN’ IN THE RAIN…♩♪

Wet weather didn’t put a damper on Team Hometown’s weekend fun!

Sue Charleville and Margaret Bigham had a blast at on the Kal-Haven Trail Tour, put on by regular Hometown clinician, Bike Tour Vacations.

Team Hometown Bicycles Jack Riddle's bike covered in mud after Arcadia Grit and GravelJack Riddle ventured northward for the Arcadia Grit & Gravel Mountain Bike Race. Thanks to the mud and sludge, his bike took home plenty of souvenir “grit” (see right) from this “wicked-tough” course in Manistee County.

Brien Terbush blew us away by riding the Zoo-de-Mack in the rain!!

And Joe Ostervik put the heat on in the Ann Arbor Velo Club Crit, the last in a series of Spring Training events.

Move over, US Post Office – your peeps aren’t the only ones who are undeterred by snow, rain, heat, and gloom of night. Way to go, Team Hometownies!

EVEN NPR GETS IT…

Guy on bikeIn this past Monday’s NPR Morning Edition segment, Allison Aubrey found that there is “Evidence Indicat[ing] Cyclists May Age Better Than Those Who Don’t Bike”. We know it, too, Allison! As NPR notes:

There’s evidence that if you regularly bike — even just for fun — you may age better than those who don’t. A study shows that cyclists bodies may fend off some of the typical age-related decline.

Click here to enjoy a full transcript of this spot-on NPR sound byte!

Special thanks to Hometownie Dr. Brandy Snedden-Hane for alerting us to this segment!

Hometown Bicycles sponsoring the SELCRA Brighton Daddy-Daughter Dance

BRIGHTON DADDY-DAUGHTER DANCE

Hometown Bicycles Team member Scooter Gate with daughter at SELCRA's Brighton Daddy-Daughter DanceFor the second year running, Hometown Bicycles had the very great pleasure of sponsoring SELCRA’s beloved Brighton Daddy-Daughter Dance… and you KNOW Shaun and I wouldn’t miss a chance to take the kids to an event that’s about family, community, and dancing!

We ran into Hometownies, like the dapper duo of Scooter and his lovely daughter, and made tons of new friends. Our table was parked alongside a favorite sponsor neighbor, Brennan Investment Services, and we enjoyed hanging out with our sure-know-how-to-throw-a-party SELCRA friends!

Congratulations to Julianna Gilbert, Selah Targosz, and dad Eric Santry who all won Hometown’s Daddy-Daughter Drawings for cool cycling prizes!
