THIS WEEK: BIKE MAINTENANCE CLINIC (free!)

This Wednesday and Thursday starts the first in a 2-part series of ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR CLINICS TO DATE! Whether you’re a newbie or bike buff, here’s your chance to learn the workings of your trusty sidekick, and how to set yourself and your bike up for a brilliant ride. Bring your questions, and be prepared for some hands-on learnin’!

BIKE CARE & MAINTENANCE PART 1 – REGISTER NOW!
Wednesday, January 11 from 12:15-1pm -OR- Thursday, January 12 from 6-7pm
In this first of a 2-part clinic, we’ll cover tips and tricks to prep your bike BEFORE you hit the roads and trails.

SPEAK UP FOR CYCLING AT JANUARY SUMMIT

Concerned about the state of cycling safety in Livingston County? Shaun says, “Let’s stop _itchin’, and do something about it!”

We not only encourage, but ASK you to attend the January 17th Livingston County Transportation Summit, running 8am-Noon at Cleary University’s Johnson Center. It’s FREE, and the more cyclists who attend, the more likely our concerns about local cycling safety will be heard and addressed. You can sit with us – Hometown will be there!

FAT BIKE FRIENDLY SHOP RIDE THIS SATURDAY

Knock on wood-ed trails… it looks like the weather is going to be idyllic for a roll through the winter woods. Bring your fatties (or rent one from us!) or mountain bikes. This weekend’s shop ride will be a 2-parter: a 6-mile, beginner-friendly loop to start, and a faster, 7-9 mile, Proud Lake loop for eager beavers craving an additional challenge!

Meet at Milford trailhead (Janowski field) at 1pm on Saturday, January 14th. Follow us on Facebook for ride confirmation/changes.

Welcome to Hometown 2.017…

HAPPY NEW YEAR, HOMETOWNIES!! We hope your holidays were “best ever”s! We’ve spent our winter break missing the heck out of your bike banter, curiosity, and thoughtfulness, and cooking up all sorts of cool adventures to have with you in 2017.

You’ll see big changes taking place throughout the shop – all geared toward getting you to your happy place faster and more “fun-ly”. If you stop in at the right times, you may even get roped into a project or two!

Between clinics, fitness classes, fat bike rentals, shop rides, Team activities, and shop projects and events, Hometown will be hopping these next couple months. So, if winter’s getting your goat, stay tuned to our emails – we’ve got the remedy for stir-crazy!

Our magnificently monster-tired Jamis fatties have, as promised, thundered into our shop with enormous glory and fanfare. And still more are on their way to round out your pre-order selection… just in time, too, for the November 12 fat bike demo. Come in and be one of the first to test ride the new models!

NOVEMBER 12TH’S “OMG!” ACTIVITY ROSTER

Here’s an impressive rundown on why you should absolutely attend our November 12th funfest extravaganza (look for times and sign-up links in next week’s email):

FAT BIKE DEMO: All Day!
Our Jamis and Framed fat bikes will be out in full force at this event, and available for you to test ride and fall in love with (yes, we’re that confident!)

INDOOR ART FAIR: Noon – 5pm
Hometown artists Deborah Kashdan, Peggy Kerwan, Lauren Patrell and her Nana, and newcomer Sarah Burke will be setting up art displays at our first ever mini indoor art fair here at the shop. Weather permitting, Sarah will also be holding an outdoor demonstration of her incredible spray paint art skills. You’ve seen their bicycle art – here’s a chance to enjoy more of their creativity… and maybe take care of some Christmas shopping in the process! (Artists prefer cash or check, so please come prepared!)

“ASK THE EXPERTS”: Noon – 1:30pm
Hit a cycling plateau? Nagging knee pain on your rides? Body Within Personal Training‘s, Jenny Schild, and Pro-Motion Physical Therapy‘s, Vinnie Baylerian, PT, DPT are generously volunteering their fitness/nutrition and common cycling injury/bike fit expertise at our event. This is a RARE OPPORTUNITY for one-stop, no charge, professional input on how to be a better, stronger cyclist… take advantage of it!

POWER YOGA WITH TOCCA MASSAGE & YOGA: Time TBD
Enjoy a stimulating, stretch-and-strengthen, Vinyasa yoga session in our Community Room with powerhouse, Ashley Knuth of Tocca Massage & Yoga.

CARDIO DRUMMING WITH MARTHA SORARUF: Time TBD
Join in on Martha’s crazy-popular Cardio Drumming class (Liam’s favorite!), which will be pumping up the volume in our Community Room at next Saturday’s event.

ZUMBA WITH HAMBURG FITNESS CENTER: Time TBD
Fiesty, Latin rhythms and everyone-friendly coreography will have you burning calories in this high energy Zumba class, hosted by Hamburg Fitness Center in our Community Room.

KIDS’ CRAFT CLASS – BIKE GEAR ORNAMENTS: Time TBD
Bring along your young ‘uns of all ages to create a unique, bicycle gear Christmas ornament with gears, glitter, and other crafty goodies provided by Hometown Bicycles. Parents, please come, too! This is a parent-child project you’ll treasure for years to come. A nominal $4 per child covers materials and instruction.

FAT BIKE FRIENDLY GROUP TRAIL RIDE: Leaves at 3:30pm
We’re a bike shop – OF COURSE there’s a ride! This one leaves from our shop parking lot at 3:30pm for the Yellow and Blue trails of picturesque, autumn-tinged Island Lake. NO DROP, all levels welcome!

CHILI COOK-OFF: Judging begins when the riders return!
Put your best chili forward for a chance to win prizes and bragging rights at Hometown’s first annual culinary cook-off! Entries must be delivered by 4:15pm, and hungry cyclists and party-goers will be the judges for this people’s choice competition. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS & TO REGISTER
